Beijing, November 21, 2019 – The 2019 New Economy Forum, co-hosted by Bloomberg and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), commenced in Beijing today on the shores of Yanqi Lake, looking out at the Great Wall. As the balance of power shifts towards Asia Pacific, the forum welcomed a global community of private sector leaders who are convening for two days to propose actionable solutions on a variety of topics including global governance, trade, technology, finance and capital markets, climate, urbanization and inclusion.
The event was attended by nearly 500 of the world’s most influential business executives, technology innovators, government officials, experts and academics from 45 countries, including over 120 CEOs across 43 sectors.
Wang Qishan, Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, delivered the keynote address. Zeng Peiyan, former Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China and Chairman of CCIEE and Henry M. Paulson, Jr., co-Chair of the forum, former U.S. Treasury Secretary and Paulson Institute Chairman, opened the event.
Dr. Henry A. Kissinger, Honorary Chair of the New Economy Forum and former U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Advisor, discussed the future of US-China relations.
During the two-day forum, participants will delve into key topics including China’s future economic development, the role of urbanization, climate action and regionalization of supply chains. With nearly 30 closed-door breakout sessions and workshops, delegates will conduct in-depth and open discussions and propose practical solutions on a variety of topics to address the challenges from the rise of new economies.
